  • Room to Breathe

    Step into an immersive tactile living room, where nature and home begin to combine, a space where fibers quietly overtake the familiar. Visitors are invited to slow down and reconnect with their senses and discover moments of comfort, reflection, and wonder.

    Curator: Felicia Murray is a fiber artist from Maine, who now lives in Portland, OR with a studio at NW Marine Art Works. Her tactile work explores motifs from nature, while creating imagined landscapes of color and texture.

  • Design is a Portal

    Part immersive installation, part time machine, this space-within-a-space transports visitors into a richly layered realm where wallpaper, art, and handcrafted furnishings blur the boundaries between worlds. A meditation on the magical power of craft and ornament to communicate back and forth across centuries, Design is a Portal asks the question: are these objects the past, the future, or a dream?

    Curator: Lonesome Pictopia, led by Melanie Nead, is an all-female design studio producing obsessively designed, traditionally-printed wallpapers; hand-painted and custom wallpapers and tiles, and in situ murals.

  • Living Module

    Inspired by the resourcefulness of tiny homes and camper interiors, Living Module explores how principles of adaptable design can transform larger living spaces. The project asks how thoughtful use of space can create rooms that serve many purposes, where furniture becomes architecture, objects serve multiple functions, and every element is intentionally considered.

    Curator: Carson Terry is an artist based in Portland, OR. He studied sculpture at both the Penland School of Arts and Crafts and Oregon School of Arts and Crafts. He wants his work to require the viewer to consider the object's presence, material choice, and impact, to create a relationship with the object.

  • Breakfast in Bed

    A playful reimagining of two of the home's most comforting spaces, Breakfast in Bed blurs the line between dining and sleeping through bold color, layered patterns, and handcrafted details. Breakfast in Bed celebrates the joy of gathering, comfort, and everyday rituals with work from local artisans woven throughout.

    Curator: Camille Shu is a painter based in Portland, OR. Her work is a celebration of color, plants, and seasonal abundance both near and far. In addition to making art, she works as a landscape designer and keeps busy as a new mom.

    Curator: Shay Carrillo is an artist, mother, stylist, art director and founder of MADRE, a premium home textiles company.

    Curator: Carma Ferrier is a ceramic artist and designer whose hand-built work explores organic form, texture, and the beauty of the maker’s hand.

Before NestFest opens to the public, step inside the Signature Rooms for an intimate morning with the Portland creatives, artists, and makers who brought them to life.

This is a chance to go behind the scenes and get up close with the people making Portland’s creative community so interesting. Hear the stories behind the installations, dive into the materials, methods, and ideas that shaped each room, and ask the questions you can’t answer by simply walking through the finished space. Meet the artists and craftspeople doing inventive, highly personal work across disciplines—and discover that many of them are right here, working in your own creative community.
